Well, he does but not real good. In 05.19 (The One Where Ross Can't
Flirt) his non-English speaking grandmother comes to look at Joey
playing in Law & Order. He speaks a little Italian there, but since I
don't speak Italian I don't know how well he speaks it.

I recall in some episode Chandler saying "and I know he only knows the
bad words". All we ever hear Joey say in Italian is "io sono numero
uno", which is incorrect Italian as far as I know, and "va fa Napoli",
basically meaning "go to Naples", replacing a common Italian offensive
expression "va fan kulo", literally meaning "got to ass".
Interestingly though, at one point Phoebe calls Kirstin Davis's
character a "stronzo", which means "shit" in Italian and is as vulgar
as it's English equivalent.

Yeah, "io sono numero uno" is not correct, it should be "io sono il numero
uno". "vaffannapoli" means nothing. Yeah, literally is "go to Naples". The
correct swearword is indeed "vaffanculo", or "fanculo". One word.

"piece of shit". Shit is "merda". And yes, it's vulgar.

04-08 The One With Chandler in a Box

[Scene: Central Perk, Chandler and Kathy are sitting at a table and
talking about Joey.]

Kathy: Oh my God, is it really that bad?

Chandler: I walk into a room and he won’t even talk to me, he just
mumbles something in Italian. And I know he only knows the bad words.

Joey: (entering) Hey Gunther, have you uh, have you seen Chandler?

Gunther: I thought you were Chandler. But umm, one of who is over there.

(Joey turns around and sees them kissing.)
